The SAT Subject Tests

The SAT Subject Tests, formerly known as the SAT IIs or Achievement Tests, are designed to assess straight-forward subject matter and generally require limited preparation in contrast to the SAT I.

These tests should ideally correspond to Junior year course selections, particularly in the case of students taking AP courses. Students can take up to three subject tests on a single test date, usually in May/June.

Subject tests are one-hour, multiple-choice tests and are offered in the following subjects, and on the same dates as the SAT I:

Literature
US History
World History
Math, Level 1
Math, Level 2
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Chinese
French
German
Spanish
Hebrew
Italian
Latin
Japanese
Korean

Some schools will waive the subject test requirement for students who take the ACT. For additional information, please visit our ACT information page.

For students interested in applying to the University of California system, it should be noted that as of 2012, the UC's no longer require SAT Subject tests for most majors. (For more information on current UC testing requirements, please click here..)

Unlike the corporate tutoring companies, whose hiring criteria are often minimal, SuccessLink’s SAT Subject test instructors are typically doctoral students who work and teach in their fields of expertise at the finest universities in their respective cities.
